I read this this morning and it cut like a knife to my heart...dividing soul and spirit bone and marrow:
I hope I can type it out before Morgan starts freaking...
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord.
Ephesians 6:10
Ever wonder if you can press on? Life is difficult, and we often feel like saying, in the words of the old musical "Stop the world--I want to get off!" It's hard to bear up under chronic pain, to keep going against constant opposition, and to remain joyful in cheerless surrounding. Within ourselves, we haven't sufficient courage or morale.
But we can be strong in the Lord. When our strength is gone, His is ready to be tapped. We can give Him our burdens, trust Him with our hurts, tell Him our cares, and claim the promises of His Word. As J.B. Phillips put it in his paraphrase of Ephesians 6:10: "Be strong-not in yourselves but in the Lord, in the power of his boundless resource."
Commentator Matthew Henry says about this verse: "We have no sufficient strength of our own. Our natural courage is as perfect cowardice, and our natural strength as perfect weakness; but all our sufficiency is of God. In His strength we must go forth and go on."
Focus your mind today on the strength of our Lord Jesus Christ. Tell Him you feel weak, but don't dwell on that. Don't dwell on your problems either. Dwell on Christ. Let Him be your strength and solution today.
