Addicted

OK I have been addicted to sugar for years. I am hypoglycemic and I don't like meat or many other foods. So, today I start my journey to break free from my sugar addiction. I feel like it has been contributing to my mitral valve issues and dysautonomia. So, here I go. It is just as much an addiction as someone who loves to smoke cigarettes.

When I learned that if I quit the sugar it may help all of my other problems I got serious.

I don't want anything to master me other than Christ. I have been telling myself for years that I can't quit eating sugar but this time I am going on with the Lord. So please pray!!

John 8:34
34Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

I have had the urge to stop having sugar many times over the last few years. The task just seems impossible, because so many things have sugar in it.

Lysa Terkeurst wrote about this same thing at her blog over the last two weeks. You may want to stop by and read it as it may encourage you.

Do you have any kind of plan you are going to follow to stop sugar all together... I would be interested... I too have MVP...

Thanks Jenny... Kim

I don't eat a whole bunch of it, but have been cutting a lot of out my diet lately after reading a report that discussed so many studies finding cancer and other illnesses that attach themselves to the sugars in people's bodies. Several of my friends even do that 'eating clean' thing that some person has a book out about. I haven't gone to that yet, but it's intriguing seeing how great they feel by putting only good things into their bodies.

Good for you, going for a healthier way of eating :)

Thanks for sharing. I have some of the same issues and know I need to get serious. Being disciplines just eats my lunch!!!!

I can attest to the fact that you will feel a lot better when you are off sugar! It took me till I was over 40 to get off it and I felt so much better. It helped my headaches, foggy thinking and energy level. And everything else tastes better too. Like a juicy peach or grapes - you'll be looking forward to the good stuff. Do it while you are young Jenny. I know it's hard but it's worth it!

Hey Girl - I told Aaron long ago that there was no way I would drive a mini-van OR place a magnetic soccer ball over the gas tank:) I am much too prideful to drive one...so I will just suffer through an SUV:) Tell Rod if he will drive a pink VW Bug - you will drive a mini-van:)

I am right there with you, Jenny! Good for you and I hope you are conquering this. I cut sugar out of my diet for a few years and never felt better. I instantly lost about 15 pounds. However, I am back in that rut now and it is such a hard thing to break!! (Oh, and the 15 pounds are back. ugh.)

I will defionatly be praying fo ryou in that battle. I often struggle with food addiction. I am learning freedom comes only through the Lord. If you need a bible study to help you as you become free from this particular food, check out settingcaptivesfree.com. They have a 60 day online biblestudy for food addictions/ struggles. It is called the Lord's table, and is very good!
