I heard Beth Moore say something that has been sticking with me and was a now word for me. She was talking about (work or money I can't remember which one) but she said something like this:
Whatever you are hanging on to, is not worth what you are missing out on with Christ.
In other words...if we are hanging on to something that is not Christ and is keeping us from Christ WE ARE MISSING OUT! We are being deceived. I was reading one of my favorite verses Psalm 37:4 (Most of you know it)
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
The word for delight in this verse is the word anag {aw-nag'}
Meaning: 1) to be soft, be delicate, be dainty 1a) (Pual) to be delicate 1b) (Hithpael) 1b1) to be of dainty habit, be pampered 1b2) to be happy about, take exquisite delight 1b3) to make merry over, make sport of
Do you get what this is saying? Be happy about, take exquisite delight, to make merry over Him.
I promise and I can tell you that I have learned the hard way that when I stop delighting in Him I start trying to delight in something vain and empty. I am full as I seek to delight in Him...to know Him, to enjoy His presence. But when I get off on my own thinking that I can meet my own needs for immense soul satisfaction I am dangerous. I am safest when I seek to KNOW Him and delight in Him. How often do we come to the Lord in a spirit of drudgery instead of one of expectation that we are going to know Him. I think one of my problems has been knowing that as soon as I open up the mirror of God's word I am going to have to see myself laid bare before my Father and it is uncomfortable as the word comes and divides and exposes things for what they really are. When the Lord convicts us of our sin it is always for our good. We have got stop being so head strong and just come and honestly bow down at the cross and allow Him to have His way with us. Speaking of delighting in Him and then us trying to find delight apart from Him I was reading these verses this morning:
Jeremiah 32:33 They turned their backs to me and not their faces; though I taught them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.
We can either turn our backs to God or we can turn our faces to Him and respond. I don't know about you but I am MISERABLE when I have my back turned to Him through disobedience.
Isaiah 45:22
22 "Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
We can either get on board with God or we can settle for our own way. Finding true life is in losing it. So the Lord in His mercy beckons us to come and He longs to remove our transgressions from us and make us clean and purified from sin. If you are struggling get on your face and pray like crazy and stay in His word so you can know the truth...it will make you free.
So again like Beth said whatever you are holding on to is not worth what you are missing.
Hosea 14:4
"I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them."
Something I learned a long time ago that you and I want to remember is that when we love the world system we set ourselves up in opposition to God and guess who wins: God everytime. So we have to make it our business to humble ourselves. He is always after our good. I have arranged myself in battle against Him and it is not worth it. I want to be on His side.
Gotta run.
Oh and my best friend Jessica is going to beat me if I don't get a certain thing typed out from Joshua 1...I am trying to get my thoughts on that together but for now me and the Morganater are going to play at the train table @BAM and then off to the gym. She has been such a delight today.

Well said, and taken! Thanks!
ah yes, the train table days...good ones.
I like the quote! Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this! It is definitely something I needed because there are many things in my life that I hang on to that keep me from God. Thank you for the reminder about what is truly important! Jenny, you are truly a woman of God and I admire you more than I could ever say in words. Thank you for blessing my life!
Hi Jenny~ I came across your blog and really enjoyed what you wrote here. I can totally relate as I myself am miserable when I get off track. But Thank the LORD He has let me experience His presence enough to know that nothing compares to knowing Him. I don't understand why I have to learn this lesson over and over, but I am so thankful He has always brought me back. He is unbelievably good and nothing in this World can compare to that. I believe so many of us are afraid to give ourselves completely to God because we have a hard time believing that He is better than all else. We tend to think we will be unhappy, unfulfilled, unsatisfied if we let go of our worldly passions and pleasures. I have experienced this first hand. But what God wants is for us to believe our joy can only be complete if we remain in Him. He wants us to be most satisfied in who He is.
I want to see you write more like this on your blog. You seem to have a lot of insight and you seem to have a true passion for the Lord.
