I took morgan to the ER last night. She has what they think to be gastroenteritis but that has not been determined fully until we get her labs. She threw up over 30 times and has had a ton of diarrhea. So please keep us in your prayers. I am exhausted and have had like 1 hour of sleep. Anyway, I came home to get some clothes real quick and Rods parents are so sweet as always they came to watch her (hopefully they will let her come home from the hospital tomorrow). Thank you Lord. I AM LOVING "Stepping Up" by Beth Moore! So good! Anyway, more pics to come and thanks for the prayers!

Speaking From a Wound
1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
(I am a little nervous over this post because I want it to come out right)...
I have thought about something all afternoon and all while I worked tonight. So of course, I will blog about it. I was reading a Christian speakers blog today and I read something that really bothered me that was addressed to the way women dress. It was her blog and she is free to say what she wants but as I read it I felt sorry that I had thought or said some of the same things about other women in the past. I taught in the singles ministry for a long time and I can remember seeing girls that would come in my class that were dressed very inappropriately and I would comment to myself at times and sometimes speak about how we as women can cause others to stumble by the way we dress (and I specifically meant that just for them...just so you will know the condition of my heart). I spoke those words not so much because I cared about them or even how they could cause another to stumble... but in some way they made me feel insecure so it would cut me to the core. Yes, as Christians we should care about how we dress and should care about not causing another to lust after us and etc. But as I read this woman's post I thought about how we tend to address (and she was speaking of a complete stranger) what someone should not be wearing when really it is an issue of the what's in their heart and not what is on the outside. It reminds me of the verses on our speech...it is not the word's we say but the condition of our heart where our words come from.
Matthew 15:18-20
18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "
That reminds me of the self-help trend where we focus on fixing the externals instead of having much needed heart surgery and getting to the core issue of our problems. Take an alcoholic for example. Yes, that is an addiction but usually at the root of the problem can be loneliness that needs to be filled by Christ, or maybe pain management...just drinking until you can't feel instead of dealing with your pain head on.
Women know that dressing in a seductive manner will draw attention and they will feel powerful. That is why they do it. I would say that when we dress to gain the attention of another man (that is not our husband...if you are married) that we are struggling with insecurity. Plain and simple we will use our body as a way to validate. Someone who is dressing to gain attention is seeking to be validated by the attention they get. But let me ask you this? Have you ever felt that same way? We are all tempted to yet we will so brutally look down on others. I am not agreeing with the immodest dress that is out there by any means. I am also not saying that you shouldn't be cute. There will always be someone thinner than us, prettier than us, younger looking than we are and that is just a fact. This is getting personal but one night there was a famous girl on television posing in a commercial and it was very much a commercial that was sexual in nature. I immediately shouted at the TV so Rod could hear me "She's a piece of trash!" Rod stopped me and said "Jenny, listen to yourself...she is made in the image of God whether she is living that way or not...you shouldn't call her a piece of trash." I immediately got defensive and felt like he was taking up for her. Do you know why I lashed out at the TV and her ad...it was because I felt like she could gain the attention of my man and that I was not good enough (I am not saying he was giving her attention either) so I wanted to lash out at the wrong she was doing and degrade her as a person because in some way it made me feel small and insecure. That is the truth. The Lord knows the condition of every heart and it is His kindness that leads us to repentance. Instead of picking up stones and casting them at people we need to pray for others that may not be in the same place that we are. And in the church we should teach in love regarding the way that a Christian woman should dress, because not everyone is in the same place that we are. We don't come out and throw stones of condemnation especially when we don't even know where someone is at with the Lord. How quick we are to label people instead of praying for them. I am so guilty of this. Especially as women how many times have we judged someone else based on appearance when we've never even had the first conversation with them.
I pray that the Lord will make you and I secure enough in our relationship with Him that we can love others and find our worth in Him. Also, I hope that we can pray for others instead of looking down on them. Don't you think that deep down when we lash out about another woman that in some way we really just want to cut her down to make ourselves feel better? These are just my opinions. I have dealt with insecurity so much and I have been hurt and betrayed in this life to...but I truly want to love and pray for people who do not treat their temple as holy instead of letting it shake me and make me feel insecure. Let's face it we will all have this problem until Christ comes to call us home. We can honor the Lord with our beauty, teach our children to dress modestly, and speak the truth in love but we can't control the rest.
1 Peter 3:2-4
when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
Psalm 45:11
11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

Is it just me?
This is going to be very random but I have a quick story. I left work tonight and went to Walmart to get Roderick some hair gel and etc. I was so worn out from this sinus infection and just really wanted to get home. I searched for a line and parked and waited. Then an older man came behind me in line with a small purchase (poker cards, magnifying glasses, and some tic tacs I do believe...aren't you glad that I am so nosey?). Here is the part that I want to know. Do you have a problem when people invade your space? I call it "invading my space bubble". Does anyone else call it that? Like the invisible bubble around you that says you can come this farther and no more...like some inch boundaries. So, I kid you not I waited in line with this man behind me for AT LEAST 20 minutes. Every time I moved back to give him the signal that he was a space invader he inched closer. He was literally like an inch from me at all times. I began to have a little fear over this and thought maybe I was just being paranoid and that I might need to put my hand on my glock just in case (I am kidding). I pretty much thought he was about to jump in my shopping cart (a.k.a. buggy). I said goodbye and told him I was glad he got a new heart and some kidneys and ran like mad to my car. It was a strange time. Do you have "space bubble issues" and struggle with close talkers?
ps Faith just reminded me to put this...i don't have the space bubble issues with people that are family, friends, and etc...just strangers.

Without Holiness No One Will See the Lord
I am always long on what I want to say and short on time. I came down with a sinus infection out of nowhere and I have a busy weekend of work. Rod has been hunting since Thursday (he killed two deer) so he should be home today to help out a little with that ball full of energy!
Hebrews 12:14
14Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
I would have to say that overall holiness is not a big topic that is very popular but it is so important to God. It is to our good that we live a holy life. Some of my favorite words are wrapped in Isaiah 6:
3 And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
"Isaiah's commission began with a vision of God's holiness (vv.1-4). This vision terrified Isaiah and made him feel totally inadequate and unclean...When the angel touched Isaiah's lips with the hot coal from the altar and said that his sins were forgiven (vv. 6,7), Isaiah was fit for service to God."
The Lord used the coal to purify Isaiah and for us under the new covenant we are washed by the blood of the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. We can not be made right apart from His sacrifice and believing on the Lord Jesus unto salvation. We can earn nothing from God by our works...it took the Lamb. Our righteousness is as filthy rags before His Holiness. The Hebrew word used for Holy (speaking of God) is the word Qados meaning: "to consecrate. Consecrated, sacred (ceremonially or morally), selected pure, holy. As a substantive, the Holy One (God)...Essentially denotes what is intrinsically sacred and distinct (even opposed to) what is common. God is seperate from all evil (Isaiah 17:7), death, and idolatry. He can not tolerate sin. His majestic holiness is without equal and is completely perfect...no one is as holy as He (1 Sa 2:2). He is the Judge of what is right and pure (Ps22:3). Because He is holy, He is free from the moral imperfections and failures associated with mankind (Hos 11:9). He is reliable; He will be faithful to His promises."
Ok I will stop there on that definition but there is so much more good stuff. Back to Hebrews 12:14
Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. The Lord calls us to live holy lives. Lives that are set apart for His good use. However, we are forgiven but we still have a daily sin problem. For me if I am not in a regular state of confession and repentance it becomes hard for me to have fellowship with the Lord since our sins separate us from God. We have to call sin for what it is and stand in agreement with the word of God and pray for godly sorrow that leads to repentance if we want know Him. When I say know Him I mean the continual gazing of the soul to Christ. Have you ever opened the word and felt like you needed to hide or wondered why you couldn't hear from Him? I have many times and then I would have to stop and ask the Lord to search me and show me any sin or anything that was offensive to Him and confess it and seek repentance so I could be in uninterrupted fellowship. When we refuse to deal with our stuff it will deal with us. We can be led into all manner of deception without confession and turning from our sin and turning to God. Do you remember Milly Vanilly their albums rocked the charts and then got revoked because it really wasn't them singing on the record? I think often about the blame game and the song from one of their albums "Blame it on the Rain" come to mind:
Gotta blame it on something, gotta blame it on something.Blame it on the rain that was fallin', fallin'.Blame it on the stars that shine at night.Whatever you do, don't put the blame on you;blame it on the rain, yeah, yeah.
Isn't that fitting. That is so what we do. We do not want to take blame or responsibility for our sin when it is easier to blame it on someone else. Half the time we want to blame everything on the devil when it is our flesh, our sin nature doing its thing. Adam did the same thing in the garden...he shifted blame on Eve. In our natural man we are the same way. God wants us to take responsibility for our own sin and own up to it so we can be right with Him and others.
The word for holy is Hebrews 12:14 is Hagiasmos meaning: "to sanctify, make holy, treat as holy. Sanctification, the process or work of making something holy; sanctified behavior, holy living. The -os indicates an action rather than a quality or attribute." The definition in the lexical aides goes on to describe how sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit since Christ died on the cross for our sins, then it goes on to say this: "Thus it describes the spiritual atmosphere in which they are living; despite the hostile, outward, circumstances, God's spirit provides an inner, spiritual realm of grace for the soul."
Thank you Lord for making a way through the cross. It is impossible for us to come to a Holy God without the cross. I love the last definition I just listed it spoke this to me: God IS by Definition Holy. That is who He is and He wants us to live a life that is set apart to Him in actions because of us being made right with Him through receiving Jesus as our Lord and having the help of the Holy Spirit. He is perfect in holiness and He wants our life to bear testimony to His holiness not in mere words but in action.
1 Thess. 4:3 uses the exact same greek word for holy in the word sanctified.
3It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control his own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
Here it tells us to obstain from sexual immorality. God's plan for sex is holy when it is in the confines of marriage alone.
Then jump down to vs 11 I think this is a product of living set apart to God.
11Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Then Paul goes immediately in the next set of verses to the Coming of the Lord. We have got to be set apart because Christ is calling the Bride of Christ to make Herself ready in Holiness and Purity. I was at the mall last night and saw some of the most indecent clothing and thought once again...the enemy is turning it up trying to get us to live at the world's status quo. His desire is for our ruin. God's desire is for our Holiness.
Begin to pray for this and seek God over it that you would love Him, and fear Him in reverence and Awe, but that your life would be holy and wholly set apart to Him.
I want to be the servant who is ready with her light on, dressed and waiting for her Master to return (Luke 12)! The Lord wants us to be vessels that are useful to Him for His service. There is so much joy and inner peace that flows from that. How do I know? Because I know what it is like to live in obedience and to have lived in rebellion.
God help us to be solidified in our pursuit of holiness. Help us to be set apart and to have an undivided heart that fears Your Name. Lord help us to put our trust in You...You are so good and so worthy!
1 John 2:15-16
15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.

Very Random Pics
My niece Bre and her friend on a field trip at the Galleria (Bre is on the right).
Now what would this be? I opened the butter (from the fridge) to find this lovely spoon in it. Rod had left it in there in case he needed to use it again...I mean why dirty up another spoon.
Gangstas! Morgan woke up this morning in one of her moods and SHE had to wear the outfit she has on. I had something cuter picked out. She insisted that we both wear our hoods. I AM NOT KIDDING. Should a 2 year old really care about what they wear?

Verses to Pray
Here are some verses that I often revisit when the waves of life feel like they are going to pull me under and I could include a ton more but I just wanted to share these tonight:
Psalm 121
A song of ascents. 1 I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 55: 22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Psalm 94:19
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Proverbs 12:25
25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.
Psalm 42:11
11 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Romans 8:37-39
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:25
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Matthew 6:27-29
27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
Luke 12:28-30
28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.

It's Out of My Control
Psalm 138:7-8 KJV
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. 8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Janel, asked me a question that is prompting this post because the Lord has been recalling certain familiar passages of Scripture to me all week. I have prayed that the Lord would speak through me regarding this post because I am no expert on the subject. I will say that I have had ample and I do mean AMPLE opportunity to worry over things and I am sure that you have as well. I am currently facing a situation where I can make a choice...I can worry or I can trust and pray, casting all of my anxieties on Him because He cares for me.
Let me ask you a question? What are you presently worrying about? We have so many things that we worry about just to name a few: money, health, our children, loved ones, our marriages, situations at work, sin finding us out, we worry about the future, about dying...there are so many things that we worry about on a day to day basis. If you don't worry I should advise you to go ahead and quit reading. Just for a minute as you read this get whatever that thing is you are worrying about and try to think about how you can apply some of the scriptures that I am going to include. I really believe that worry and anxiety can really become a stronghold in our lives if we don't pray and do away with it on a regular basis. How do we rid ourselves of it? I am going to seek to answer that with a few things that I have learned.
All of our worry is because we feel that we are out of control (because we are). So we begin to worry as if it would change anything. I say this in all humilty because of my own tendency to worry...we must recognize that worrying is sin. Plain and simple and we have to stand in agreement with God that it is sin and confess it for what it is. I would like to tell you that in almost every area of my life I have had a reason to worry and let anxiety eat me alive. Through this I have been able to learn (I am not saying that my feeble self doesn't default back to worry) to trust in the Lord and I have seen His mighty hand come through time and time again.
Let me ask you another question? Do you believe that the Lord is concerned for you and the matters that concern you? Do you just know what He says or do you truly believe it?
1. God cares about you and I will prove this through Scripture.
1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our anxieties on Him, the literal greek of the word cast means to throw off your anxieties. The way I do that is to pray and tell God every detail until I am rid of it and I may have to do that several times according to the situation.
This is long but please drink it in. Please don't just hear it with your ears I am asking God for whoever reads this that you would know it in the bone and marrow that you would even feel His care for you right now.
Do Not Worry Luke 12:22-34 22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Here are a few things to glean from this passage: a. We are God's most prized possession. He will provide for our needs so we are told not to worry. b. Worry will not add one second to our lives. Not only will it not add anything, worry comes to rob us of our years, our health, and our joy. c. As seen in the above passage we have got to ask God to help us to believe (not just know) that He truly cares for us. He knows the very number of hairs on our head (that is a lot for me). He says in Matthew 10:29 that not one sparrow falls to the ground apart from the will of our Father. He is sovereignly, all knowing, all powerful, almighty God. He will perfect that which concerns you.
In this passage He tells us to seek first His kingdom. So we need to pray and seek Him through His word to cast off our anxiety. One thing I have learned is that grace comes when you need it and not before. Some people have told me...Jenny I do not know if I could have gone through losing a child like you did. Of course we don't think we can handle much but I promise you that the Lord aportions grace as you need it. The way I got through that was to keep praying and keep seeking God through His word until He brought me thru the fire and the deep darkness that seemed to close in around me. Same thing in marriage or anything else you look at your circumstances and think man can I make it with this person another however many years. Instead of getting so ahead of ourselves we have to truly take it one day at a time and ask God for His wisdom in all things.
TO BE CONTINUED gotta go to work. Any by the way, I am writing this because I have plenty of opportunity to worry right now about my own situations and the situations of others....

Secrets of Contentment by John MacArthur

Secrets of Contentment
By John MacArthur
In Philippians 4:11-12, Paul said, “I have learned to be content . . . I have learned the secret.” Here he used a Greek term pregnant with meaning—an allusion to the mystery religions of Greece. Initiation into those pagan cults involved becoming privy to certain religious secrets. Paul became privy to the secret of contentment, and it’s one he passed on to all who have been initiated by faith in Jesus Christ. Over the next few days we will consider several secrets to contentment, coming out of Philippians 4.
1. Confidence in God’s Providence
Paul said, “I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that . . . you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity” (v. 10). Let me give you some background. About ten years had passed since Paul was last in Philippi. Acts 16 relates what happened during his first visit.
Paul and his traveling companions met a businesswoman named Lydia and preached the Gospel to her and her companions. Their conversion resulted in the formation of a church. During the early days of that church, Paul cast out a spirit of divination from a slave girl. The girl’s owners—livid over the loss of the income they had derived from her fortune-telling abilities—had Paul flogged, thrown into prison, and locked in stocks. Instead of complaining about the miserable situation in which he found himself, he praised God through thankful prayer and song far into the night.
God responded in an amazing way: He shook the foundations of the prison so violently that all its doors opened wide and the chains fell off the prisoners’ feet and wrists. That incredible experience, plus Paul’s incredible response to his dismal circumstances, led to the salvation of the jailer—and the jailer’s entire household. As the church at Philippi grew, it’s apparent they helped fund Paul for further missionary outreach.
Our text in Philippians makes it clear, however, that it had been awhile since they last were able to help support him in that endeavor. But that was fine with Paul. He knew it wasn’t that they lacked concern, but that they lacked “opportunity” (Gk., kairos). That’s a reference to a season or window of opportunity, not to chronological time.
In writing, “You have revived your concern for me,” Paul was using a horticultural term that means “to bloom again.” That’s like saying, “Your love has flowered again. I know it has always been there, but it just didn’t have an opportunity to bloom. Blooms are seasonal, and the right season hadn’t come along until now.”
The point is that Paul had a patient confidence in God’s sovereign providence. He was content to do without and wait on the Lord’s timing. He didn’t resort to panic or manipulation of others. Those things are never called for. Paul was certain that in due time God would order the circumstances so that his needs would be met. We can have that same certainty today.
Until we truly learn that God is sovereign, ordering everything for His own holy purposes and the ultimate good of those who love Him, we can’t help but be discontent. That’s because in taking on the responsibility of ordering our lives, we will be frustrated in repeatedly discovering that we can’t control everything. Everything already is under control, however, by Someone far greater than you or I.
A synonym for God’s providence is divine provision, but that’s a skimpy label for a complex theological reality. Providence is how God orchestrates everything to accomplish His purposes. Let me show you what that means by contrast.
There are two ways God can act in the world: by miracle and by providence. A miracle has no natural explanation. In the flow of normal life, God suddenly stems the tide and injects a miracle. Then He sets the flow back in motion, just like parting the Red Sea until His people could walk across and closing it up again. Do you think it would be easier to do that—to say, “Hold it, I want to do this miracle” and do it—or to say, “Let’s see, I’ve got 50 billion circumstances to orchestrate to accomplish this one thing”? The latter is providence. Think, for example, of how God providentially ordered the lives of Joseph, Ruth, and Esther. Today He does the same for us.
Contentment comes from learning that God is sovereign not only by supernatural intervention, but also by natural orchestration. And what an incredible orchestra it is! Appreciate the complexity of what God is doing every moment just to keep us alive. When we look at things from that perspective, we see what folly it is to think we can control our lives. When we give up that vain pursuit, we give up a major source of anxiety.
Paul was content because he had confidence in the providence of God. That confidence, however, never led him to a fatalistic “It doesn’t matter what I do” attitude. The example of Paul’s life throughout the New Testament is this: Work as hard as you can and be content that God is in control of the results.

Contentment in a Consumer Culture
By John MacArthur
This is a continuation from yesterday’s article on biblical contentment from Philippians 4.
2. Satisfaction with Little
Here is another secret to contentment from Paul’s life: “Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity” (Phil. 4:11–12).
He appreciated the revived generosity of the Philippian church, but wanted them to know he hadn’t been coveting it. He kept his wants or desires in check, not confusing them with his needs.
“Not that I speak from want” is another way of saying, “I really don’t have any needs that aren’t being met.” Our needs as human beings are simple: food, clothing, shelter, and godliness with contentment. Scripture says to be content with the bare necessities of life.
That attitude is in marked contrast to the attitude of our culture. People today aren’t content—with little or much. My theory is that the more people have, the more discontent they’re apt to be. Typically, the most unhappy people you’ll ever meet are very wealthy. They seem to believe their needs can never be met. Unlike Paul, they assume their wants are needs. They’ve followed our materialistic culture’s lead in redefining human needs.
You’ll never come across a commercial or ad that tells you to eat food, drink water, or go to sleep. Mass media advertises items that are far more optional and discretionary, but you’d never know it from the sales pitch. The appeal isn’t, “Wouldn’t you like to have this?” but “You need this!” If you expose yourself to such appeals without thinking, you’ll find yourself needing things you don’t even want! The goal of this kind of advertising is to produce discontentment and make a sale.
To protect yourself, pay careful attention to whenever you attach the word need to something in your thoughts or speech. Edit any use of it that goes beyond life’s bare essentials. Paul did, and you can too. Thankfully regard any surplus as a blessing from God. You will be satisfied with little when you refuse to depend on luxuries the world redefines as needs.

Encouragement for today!
Abby - Unshackled
and Angie at LSOF
I love you all!
Hebrews 3:12-14 AMP
12[Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.
13But instead warn (admonish, urge, and encourage) one another every day, as long as it is called Today, that none of you may be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [by the fraudulence, the stratagem, the trickery which the delusive glamor of his sin may play on him].
14For we [a]have become fellows with Christ (the Messiah) and share in all He has for us, if only we hold our first newborn confidence and original assured expectation [in virtue of which we are believers] firm and unshaken to the end.

Pray harder girls!
Morgan decided that she was going to bed at 10:30 and that she was only going to take a nap and wake up at 12am. So here I sit at 5 am and my child has not gone back to sleep. Fun times!

BIG FAT Ego's
Philippians 2:2-4
2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
I used to teach in the singles ministry at my church for almost 7 years and I can not even begin to tell you some of the stupid, no idiotic, things this girl has said or done. Since, the time I have not been teaching the Lord has done a profound work in the "humbling jenny" department. Only one of my closest friends really knows about this work in me regarding to details. The Lord has really handed me over to myself in some ways to sift things out of me that HAD TO GO! You would not believe the selfish ambition that I have had at times and y'all it is disgusting in the eyes of God. It makes Him sick when we are not unified or when we are trying to have the spot light, or make a name for ourselves. Without constant examination we all fall prey to this because of our sin nature. Anyway, I normally have a history of having to learn things the hard way and I can not even begin to explain the ways the Lord has dealt with me in the last year and a half. I have really had to question everything and my faulty views of God have been shattered to pieces (I know He will continue to show me more of the One True God...not the one that I have imagined at times based on experiences). I have learned so much about His mercy, His love, His grace, and His faithfulness. I have also learned that we reap what we sew whether for the good or the bad. I have only been walking closely with Him for the last decade and He still manages to blow me away with His mystery. Last night I was headed to my little sisters and I looked into the sky to see sheer brilliance. I saw a rainbow out of the corner of my eye and thought I would pull off the side of the road in 5 o'clock traffic to take a picture and then I felt that might not be wise since I had my 2 year old in the car. What was so interesting is that there were SOOO many dark stormy rainclouds and I thought to myself man this is just like life at times we are going through a storm and we can't see our way through the dense fog and then the Lord shoots a rainbow in the sky right near the darkness and reminds me of His covenant relationship with His people. He is constant and remains unchanged regardless of our circumstances or storms. He is God Almighty.
++I just got home from work and I had typed the first portion 7 hours ago so let me see if I can get going again.++
So on to another point Luke chapter 9 has hit me between the eyes this week. Jesus sends out the 12 to preach the good news to the Jews. Then, He miraculously feeds the 5,000,which I have blogged about earlier in the week. Christ then transfigures Himself before Peter, James, and John (can you even imagine?). He goes on in the passage to heal the boy with the evil spirit, remember he had it since he was a small child. Then a fight breaks out among the disciples as to who will be the greatest among them. Then here it is that brings me to the point of this post:
54When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you
want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"
55But Jesus turned and rebuked them, 56and they went to another village.
How like us? We walk with the Lord, we know Him, and we see Him perform miracles in our lives and the lives of others and then we start to think we are members of some elite club. Jealousy of others can set in, which is rooted in pure insecurity and we start calling down our judgments on others in the body of Christ. The Lord can not stand this attitude in us...this spirit of competition among other believers. Why? Because satan wanted to make a name for himself instead of giving glory to God. We do the same thing if our chief end is not knowing God and bringing glory to Him. Let me tell you something personal. We should use our gifts to edify the body of Christ...it is a command that has a promised blessing. But what I want to say is that sadly there came a time where I was more focused on a calling then bringing glory to Christ. I am so sorry about that (I don't think I even realized it at the time)...it grieves me now as I type this. Through the last year I have learned a lesson that I pray will take forever...I am absolutely no better than anyone else. No matter how much scripture I know, whatever greek or hebrew I have memorized, nothing makes me superior to ANYONE else...nothing. You know the verse take heed you stand lest you fall...that will put you in your place when you start trying to judge (pass judgment that is reserved for God alone) on another person. Left to our own demise, no matter how long we have walked with God, we must guard our self from the pride that seeks to entangle our feet and trip us up. I believe the disciples got really proud after all they had seen and done with Christ and then they got to a really scary place. They were ready to call down fire and destroy people. We should absolutely tremble at the thought of others spending an eternity apart from Christ and we should pray for mercy on others and not judgment. Why? Because Matthew 7 says 1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. You and I need mercy, mercy, and more mercy. So don't we want it for others. There have been times where I have felt so betrayed and I wanted to call down fire on someone else. The times I have chosen to take God at His word and come to Him with raw honesty and pray for the person who hurt me God has healed me and made me free. When I have chosen to hang on to unforgiveness the bitterness has separated me from my God and eaten me up like a cancer (Believe me when I say though that forgiveness has not been an overnight process with some things I have dealt with...it has taken a lot of praying and a lot of time in the word). To me jealousy, passing judgment, and selfish ambition really are rooted in insecurity as I said before. When I stop and think it through with the Lord I have not wanted others to get in on what I had going with Jesus because I was afraid He would forget about me or He would not use me in the way I had planned. Instead the Lord has given me the message to BE STILL and KNOW that HE is God. (10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.") Many of you are familiar with this but the verse literally means to be still...to cease striving with your own plans and know Him. Know Him. As we seek Him we will find Him and we will want others to know Him. When we see that our righteousness is as filthy rags those big fat egos will be beaten down in light of the Holiness of our God. Quick story: The other day I was thinking back on friendships that didn't work out in elementary school, broken relationships that I never thought I would get over, abuse that I endured, and so many other things and I just had to praise God over how He was orchestrating my life even when I didn't understand. I had seen on Myspace some people that I used to be friends with and their life took on a completely different direction. I say this in all humility...I pray that they will come to the Lord...but what kind of direction would my life have taken had I continued journeying on with these people. No I am not better than them but through brokenness and not being able to understand...the Lord was working out His plans for me.
And back to the subject of working for the Lord and bringing glory to Him...we must make our focus knowing Him and delighting in Him and His light will spill over from our full cups. I love the following verse to remind me that the Lord knows my motives and hidden agendas and He will judge my work in truth because nothing is hidden from Him.
1 Corinthians 3:11-13
11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.
May the following verses be our hearts cry and that instead of seeking position we would see God with all of our hearts to love and adore Him and that He would be High and lifted up in our lives:
Psalm 27: 4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
And remember this and take it from me: YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO LEARN EVERYTHING THE HARD WAY like I have so many times.
Matthew 23:12
12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
I hope this make sense because I am really tired. So goodnight. I love all of my bloggin' sistas (siestas)...(and brothers) and praise God for your passion for Jesus and how you have encouraged me!

Because a 2 year old has very important things to do at 12:23 am
This is for you Jim Henderson! My child is up once again after midnight. And as far as suggestions go I have tried them all. I just walked in her room to see that she did not like her jammies and she had to change them (with some help) to match (she gets that honest). Then I noticed that she had colored about 4 or 5 pictures while she was in her bed. She found the Crayola color wonders in her top drawer. Thank the Lord they were invisible ink...Praise You Father.

a quote
I heard Beth Moore say something that has been sticking with me and was a now word for me. She was talking about (work or money I can't remember which one) but she said something like this:
Whatever you are hanging on to, is not worth what you are missing out on with Christ.
In other words...if we are hanging on to something that is not Christ and is keeping us from Christ WE ARE MISSING OUT! We are being deceived. I was reading one of my favorite verses Psalm 37:4 (Most of you know it)
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
The word for delight in this verse is the word anag {aw-nag'}
Meaning: 1) to be soft, be delicate, be dainty 1a) (Pual) to be delicate 1b) (Hithpael) 1b1) to be of dainty habit, be pampered 1b2) to be happy about, take exquisite delight 1b3) to make merry over, make sport of
Do you get what this is saying? Be happy about, take exquisite delight, to make merry over Him.
I promise and I can tell you that I have learned the hard way that when I stop delighting in Him I start trying to delight in something vain and empty. I am full as I seek to delight in Him...to know Him, to enjoy His presence. But when I get off on my own thinking that I can meet my own needs for immense soul satisfaction I am dangerous. I am safest when I seek to KNOW Him and delight in Him. How often do we come to the Lord in a spirit of drudgery instead of one of expectation that we are going to know Him. I think one of my problems has been knowing that as soon as I open up the mirror of God's word I am going to have to see myself laid bare before my Father and it is uncomfortable as the word comes and divides and exposes things for what they really are. When the Lord convicts us of our sin it is always for our good. We have got stop being so head strong and just come and honestly bow down at the cross and allow Him to have His way with us. Speaking of delighting in Him and then us trying to find delight apart from Him I was reading these verses this morning:
Jeremiah 32:33 They turned their backs to me and not their faces; though I taught them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.
We can either turn our backs to God or we can turn our faces to Him and respond. I don't know about you but I am MISERABLE when I have my back turned to Him through disobedience.
Isaiah 45:22
22 "Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
We can either get on board with God or we can settle for our own way. Finding true life is in losing it. So the Lord in His mercy beckons us to come and He longs to remove our transgressions from us and make us clean and purified from sin. If you are struggling get on your face and pray like crazy and stay in His word so you can know the truth...it will make you free.
So again like Beth said whatever you are holding on to is not worth what you are missing.
Hosea 14:4
"I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them."
Something I learned a long time ago that you and I want to remember is that when we love the world system we set ourselves up in opposition to God and guess who wins: God everytime. So we have to make it our business to humble ourselves. He is always after our good. I have arranged myself in battle against Him and it is not worth it. I want to be on His side.
Gotta run.
Oh and my best friend Jessica is going to beat me if I don't get a certain thing typed out from Joshua 1...I am trying to get my thoughts on that together but for now me and the Morganater are going to play at the train table @BAM and then off to the gym. She has been such a delight today.

help!
I am calling on the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to please please cause my child to go to sleep. Sing over her, give her a holy benadryl, whatever but please quiet her with Your love oh Lord. May my prayer be like incense before Your Throne.
I have learned so much this week personally and through the pages of scripture. My heart is so full and I need some time to just sit at the feet of Jesus and choose what is best which is to know Him. I have been thinking tonight about how insecure I have been in my life and what foolishness it has led me to. I want to belt out, and I do, like the daddy in Mark 9... for the Lord to help my unbelief. I struggle so much at times with believing that He can still change things when I feel like the stone has been rolled over the tomb of my circumstances. I struggle to comprehend how great the love of Christ really is. I know that our faith is not about feelings but I need to feel Him tonight...is that ok. I have done breaking free so many times (Beth Moore) and I don't want to just know about breaking free anymore...I want to do it. To have the Spirit of the Lord so permeate my being that where His Spirit is, He would bring Liberty. Our God is a God of Liberation. I still am so thankful that He is not like man in His mercy toward sinners like me. I love Him so and that is all I am saying for tonight. Goodnight out there in blog land. Love to all my siestas!

The Pumpkin patch
trying to take a picture! we were so tired!
Rod's BFF Todd with their pumpkins. We decided to take small ones and store up our pumpkins in heaven (really since I didn't want to have to carry them like they are...LOL).
me doing what I did all day...chasing her.
"Are you sure this is the right one Morgan?"
This is it!
pony ride!
twactor ride (thats what they called it) I shouldn't have picked the caboose I died laughing we bounced around so hard.
Her drinking the Grapico. You would think the child never ate the way she drank it.
Morgan watching a helicopter take off.
Tiana and me
long story short about these slides. 1. I was about to BURN up. Then Rod says Jenny aren't you going to take Morgan up those slides to which I reply no. Then he says he is very disappointed that I wasn't going to take her. I thought she was too small. Y'all what a workout! So I come down the slides with her and it is some major friction-burn!! Next time daddy-o is taking her.
me and her with some Arby's I rode her around in the car last night hoping she would go to sleep. nope so we just settled for some cheese sticks! Here I am wearing a sweater in Alabama on the first cold day!
Tiana, Todd, and Abigail. They went to the punkin patch with us.

who really cares?
I had to work tonight which will bring me to a really pointless story. I am going to sidetrack first and tell you some useless information:
1. Morgan just made me reach my target heart rate by the loud boom upstairs. I bolted to her room only to find that she had dropped her books on her and not her dresser PTL! She is into climbing shelves.
2. I am eating a bagel with cream cheese (Lenders has the mini-bagels you can buy in a bag...so good).
3. Morgan ripped all of the keys off of my laptop last night...so I have a little more time on my hands since I CAN NOT STUDY my online course! AAAHHH!!
4. It is officially fall in Alabama and I wore a sweater to work tonight.
5. I got a raise today.
Here is my situation. I really hope that none of my co-workers read this blog. LOL! kidding. Every time I work with certain people I itch like crazy. After several weeks of this I thought I was going to claw my eyes out...even with the Benadryl. Then it occured to me...I only itch like that when I am around cats (I am itching just thinking about it...that is my level of weirdness). So, I began to take a little animal survey and found out that some of my co-workers have multiple cats. So this explains it...cat dander. Do you think I should ask them all to get rid of their cats for me? Just kidding. I think the Lord gave me allergies to cats because He knows how scared I am of them. He knew that I would need a reason to tell Morgan why mommy CAN NOT HAVE PETS. So He gave me allergies. Please don't take offense to me not liking cats...I just think they are sneaky and one bit me once. Then my grandmothers cat would claw me and pee in the center of my bed. It all began with a cat named snuffy. Well, I better go read my bible before I bore anyone under the bed. And if I hear of you scobbing any knobs (see previous post) I am calling DHR (Willblogforshoes)!! LOL!!

who is Rod
him and the our old singles minister who married us.
He is very shy and won't like that I put these pictures up so good thing he doesn't read my blog. We sent out emails instead of invitations to our wedding at the lake. We planned it in 2 weeks since I was having to take care of him after his ATV accident. He had just started walking the day of our wedding. It was a long day as my contacts were bothering me and he had the broken back. So there is Rod.

and if this does not make you laugh
I was talking with a girl the other day that had a bad experience at a mothers day out program. She said she walked in one day and overheard one of the older ladies yell at a girl and this is what she said:
"If you don't get off of that table I am going to scob your knob!!"
Can you just picture telling a two year old that? Like what in the world is scobbing my knob lady? If you don't know what it is...it is when you take your knuckles and rub them on the scalp of someones head! LOL!
If you do not live in the South you may have never heard that phrase.

Exceedingly Abundantly
We get so limited in our thinking that we can't conceive that small of a grain growing into something this large so we usually cease to believe.
Yesterday I opened my Sword of the Spirit and began to read about Jesus feeding the 5,000 plus women and children. The disciples had just returned from spreading the good news of the kingdom of God to the Jews and they came back in from the journey and they were exhausted. Seeing their need Jesus gets them to withdraw so they can get some rest. My favorite account in all four of the gospels of this paticular segment is in Mark 6:
30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
Here is where I can put myself in this scene: D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E. Desperate for Jesus. Can you even imagine what it was like to have the Godhead bodily in the flesh on earth for a time? The peoples needs were so great and so are our needs. We have an insatiable need to be filled in the innermost being by something, someone greater yet so often we will search to the farthest ends of the earth in vain. Anyway, here is Jesus raising the dead, healing the sick, performing many miracles and the people were desperate for Him to touch their lives. I think about the hemorrhaging woman and how she just touched the hem of His garment and her blood that was flowing (FOR 12 YEARS) STOPPED as soon as she touched Him. Anyway, Jesus saw the people coming and had compassion on them so what did He do? He had compassion that they were like sheep without a shepherd. They were lost or aimless. So He taught them. I love this about Jesus because if I had just come to a moment of conversion and had never grown in my knowledge of who Christ is and how He wants me to live there is NO telling where I would be. I am a dumb sheep enough on my own and in desperate need to hear my masters voice. The voice of truth and purity. Discipling others is so important for this very reason. We need to know truth and not be deceived by false teaching. Our view of God really does determine everything about us. This brings me to a personal story. When I read of how the disciples wanted Jesus to send the crowds away to other towns to find food and lodging before it got late it sent me in a tailspin. They were so just like us. The Lord may show up in our lives and do many miraculous things and then we get our heads stuck on the ground and we forget. Anyway, they had seen Him heal the sick and raise the dead yet they did not believe Him to feed all of those people. This would not have been a far cry if they would have thought of the Israelites and how God so literally rained their food down from heaven. So Jesus told them to feed the people and you see Philip and Andrew began to calculate with human reason what it would take to feed all of those people...it was humanly speaking: IMPOSSIBLE. So then Jesus fed them with the five loaves and two fish and they had twelve baskets left over. That is just like us to use human calculation instead of thrusting ourselves at the One who is the Blessed controller of all things and controls the very universe. Nothing is too hard for God.
So, I have had some heavy burdens on my back for a time now. I can't go into detail so here is the brief synopsis. I got on my knees yesterday morning and confessed how I have tried in my own efforts to meet my needs and reaffirmed that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I asked God just to be God and show up in my circumstances as I prayed specifically over what they were (He already knew but I had to tell Him). As I prayed I realized how truly unworthy I am for any heavenly crumbs to fall from His table into my mouth but acknowledged that He could still bless me if He wanted to. He has been so good to me y'all. I asked Him to take this weight off of me. Within minutes (almost like Daniel while He was praying God sent the answer) the Lord worked out a huge situation. Then later in the day (a totally seperate issue) I had a debt cancelled to put it brief. Now what in the world! That was God. I took my little mustard seed of faith to the Throne of Grace to find help and boy did I (Psalm 5:2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.). I so wish I could give you the details. Anyway, I never want to cease to remember the great things the Lord has done for me and for others. I want to keep believing Him when I feel discouraged and forgotten.
I read these verses today out of Matthew 16 and it reminded me about how quickly we forget. Let's keep choosing to remember the great things He has done.
Matthew 16:7-9
7They discussed this among themselves and said, "It is because we didn't bring any bread."
8Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, "You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? 9Do you still not understand? Don't you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
