Controversy on William Young's "The Shack"

I read the book the Shack and I completely disagreed with (even a fictional) portrayal of The Trinity. Here is an article from Dr. James MacDonald who has been a mentor to me in the faith. I know I have heard several of your opinions already regarding the book...but I could in no way recommend his book to anyone either. We need to guard our hearts with all diligence and whether fiction or not, we need to stick to the God of the bible.

I read it, too, and had a hard time with the fictional portrayals. Have you read the Redemption Series? If not, you HAVE to. They are so good. I'm on the 2nd book now.

Hi Jenny,
I'm reading through your posts and this one I have to tell you I felt relief reading it. So many people had told me how GREAT that book was, that I got it, and started reading it (after it sat on my bedside table for 2 months). I got about 1/3 of the way through it and couldn't pick it back up. The portrayal of the Trinity in there -- the people -- just felt wierd to me. Thanks for sharing your opinion of it here. Made me feel not so much like the odd girl out!

Is the book even worth finishing?

Mr. Youung unfortunatly is a Universalist. His book is not only a work of fiction, but in places, a work of heresy.
