When there are no footprints in the sand

So this is my second post for the day. Oh well. I was dog tired last night and (or maybe I should say this morning since it was almost 2) I was about to pass out. I was laying on my floor reading my bible when this verse jumped out at me. I don't remember ever seeing it but I had it underlined so I must have.

Psalm 77:19

19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.

Then here it is in context:

18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and quaked.

19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.

20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

No offense to the traditional "footprints" poem....but what about the times when we can't see His set of footprints. When He leads us a way that requires faith in the Invisible Immortal One who dwells in inapproachable light. I am so thankful for the word and how I was even reading this morning about Jesus healing the 9 lepers in Luke and how only one returned to praise Him. What made me think about His humanity is that it tells you the route He was traveling to Jerusalem. His feet touched this earth in a very visible way.

I was leaving the mall the other night and the normal people that have booths set up tried to talk me into their product. They drive me nuts asking me since I am there most of the week. I am like really can you learn my face or something...I don't want to see ANYTHING AMAZING. They always say "Ma'am let me show you something amazing!" Anyway, a lot of the workers are from Israel and that leads me right into a conversation about Jesus. Well, on Saturday this one guy was trying to sell me a head massager and I asked him where he was from. He told me and I told him how much I wanted to visit the Holy Land. Anyway, he told me I should go during Rosh HaShanah he said it was the same thing as Christmas here. Oh no no no I said, with respect. It is not the same. I believe in a child that was born, walked this earth, fulfilled all of the law and prophets, and is FULLY God and FULLY man. The Godhead bodily. I believe that my sins put Him on a cruel cross and that He took the punishment for our sins past, present, and future. Then, on the third day He rose from the grave and is seated at the right hand of the Father. His heart was so hard toward Christianity. It broke my heart. All of the people that I talk to with this company give me the same conversation. Well, when I finished talking to him I mentioned that I was going to pray for him. He mentioned in the conversation that he believed he was god. Whoo...I told him I needed to jump back on that one. He asked me to pray for him that he would make lots of money (at the kiosk) to which I proceeded to ask him that why if he was god does he work at the mall. I am not being disrespectful either...I was just asking. Then, I proceeded to tell him that if he was the God of the Universe (Jesus) that I believe in, then he would be the blessed controller of all things. So again, God owns the cattle on a thousand hills...we don't need to pray that "God" makes a lot of money. He has everything at His disposal.

Ask God for opportunities to share you faith and know that most will reject Him. We can't save people only Christ. I certainly believe in making relationships with people and sharing the Gospel but I just have many opportunities that are a one chance thing. Look for people who are hurting and at the end of themselves and talk to them about Jesus and what He has done for you.

This guy wanted me to prove that Christ was real and that is just it we walk by faith. I could have stood there for hours and given him testimony of my own life and how I know that I know He is real.

John 20:29

29Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

You have lots of patience to talk so in depth with mall people....that is why I like outdoor malls where you can dash in and out to the car and not be trapped LOL.

About the no footprints. I love the passage from Job 23:8-12

8 "But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him.

9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.

10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.

12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

I love verses 8-10 about how I'm looking and do not see Him but He knows the way that I take--wow! Verses 11 and 12 are sobering b/c I surely slip, depart and turn aside but I do treasure His words like daily bread and strive to be more like Him.

We may not see Him but because we know whom we have believed we can know He is there. =) Jill

I love those verses in Job 23 so much. I can remember hearing James MacDonald preach on them like 8 years ago and they were so profound to me.
And you crack me up about the outside malls. I think you just crack me up in general!!

I still think about you when I walk into WalMart and see the "May I Help You?" people. Jenny Hope would so talk to them and bring them presents. Loved your post and your emails! Email me your address and I'll send you something.

I love those verses! I have read them before but the 'footprints' thing never struck me as it did in your post.
And it is sad how hardened the hearts of many Jewish people are against Christianity. There is so much history there--years of persecution in the name of Christ. It's tragic. My sis majored in Jewish Studies at Moody and has filled me in a little bit.
